This Academy award-winning film is the true story of football player Michael Oher who is adopted by a family and goes on to become an NFL star. Oher came from a drug-addicted mother but was a scholarship student.
He meets Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, played by Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw, who bring them into their home, hire him a tutor and get him involved in the school’s football program. He goes to play for the University of Mississippi and was a first-round draft pick for the Baltimore Ravens.
While the story is set in rough neighborhoods of Memphis, Tennessee, it was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. Agnes Scott College, Atlanta International School, and Westminster School served as backdrops for the movie.
