Opened in mid 2024, Cloudland at McLemore Resort is a luxury resort near Cloudland Canyon in Rising Fawn. It combines the best of the great outdoors with the finest dining and amenities available, part of Hilton’s Curio Collection. It’s about 2 hours from Atlanta and less than 1 hour from Chattanooga, making it a popular North Georgia weekend getaway.

Most of the accommodations in this area are rustic, including campsites in the state park and glamping. This is what sets Cloudland well above the rest. The resort has 245 guest rooms, many of which have balconies and terraces overlooking the canyon. They come with cozy beds and amenities like a coffee maker, mini fridge, and flat screen television. The rooms are also dog-friendly.

Eating and Drinking at Cloudland at McLemore Resort

Cloudland has several restaurants open to guests and also to the public since there aren’t many full-service dining options nearby. Croft is an all-day cafe with a sunken bar that becomes a nightlife spot later on. The Pocket is a takeaway cafe named for a local wildlife area, with coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and cocktails. Skyside is open seasonally for poolside drinks and snacks.

Auld Alliance is the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, with more dressy attire, serving French fare. Reservations are recommended to enjoy dishes like Cornish game hen and filet mignon, paired with whiskey cocktails. Over at the residential side of McLemore’s clubhouse, Creag leans into Scottish and Southern traditions.

The resort does charge a fee, but it includes daily WiFi, bike rentals, a library where you can borrow books and games, nightly cocktails at The Pocket, and stargazing equipment. Guests also get a spa credit and complimentary golf practice, bag storage, and transportation. The fitness center has Peloton bikes, and the pool overlooks the canyon.

Spa treatments are the best around, and day passes are sometimes available. Golfers have access to two championship 18-hole courses and a 6-hole short course. If that’s not enough, McLemore is close to the stunning Lula Lake, with its stunning waterfall and miles of trails. You can see endangered bats at Fricks Cave Preserve or go hang gliding at Lookout Mountain Flight Park.
