Mt. Airy, North Carolina is located less than an hour’s drive from Greensboro, North Carolina. The town’s history is perhaps most closely identified with that of actor Andy Griffith, who grew up in the area and connected many characters and locations from his show with the town.
One of the country’s first sets of conjoined twins also made their home here in the 1800s. Today, you’ll find a thriving downtown with many shops making connections to Mayberry. Stop by the Earle Theatre to learn about the “old time” music.
