Southern Stays: Baker’s Cay Resort

May 24, 2019 By Caroline Eubanks Leave a Comment

 Baker's Cay Resort
Baker’s Cay Resort

Arriving at Baker’s Cay Resort in Key Largo feels like staying on a Caribbean island, surrounded by 13 acres of lush Florida plant life. The resort was refurbished after a 2017 hurricane and joined Hilton’s Curio Collection of unique properties.

Rooms at Baker’s Cay Resort

The 200 stylish guest rooms feature balconies overlooking the private beach. All have comfy bedding, sitting areas, complimentary WiFi, flat-screen televisions, bathrobes, and coffee makers with compostable coffee pods.

Suites have sofa beds or trundle beds. Instead of disposable toiletries, the resort has refillable shampoo and conditioner containers to cut down on waste. Bottled water is available but in reusable paper bottles rather than plastic.

Dining at Baker’s Cay Resort

The resort has multiple restaurants for guests to enjoy. Calusa is open-air and set on the top level overlooking the hammock trees. They serve the breakfast buffet and a menu of the Caribbean and Creole-influenced dishes for dinner.

The Tiki Bar serves frozen and cold drinks by the beach. Dry Rocks has tacos and a tequila bar, serving Patron tequila barreled especially for the resort as well as 45 other bottles. There’s also a bar and food truck by the pool.

Amenities at Baker’s Cay Resort

In addition to the dining and rooms, Baker’s Cay has a number of great amenities. There are two beaches, two pools (one adults only!), nature trails, bike rentals, a 24-hour fitness center, a salon, and watersports rentals.

You can go paddleboarding, jet skiing, and more. The resort also has a small shop selling eco-friendly goods like reef-safe sunscreen and responsibly created clothing. And, of course, the resort can accommodate groups and special events. They host daily sunset toasts and Cuban coffee. There’s also a library book exchange.

Baker’s Cay Resort is a short drive from bustling Miami and near Florida Keys attractions like John Pennekamp State Park and many dive outfitters.

Tips for Staying at Baker’s Cay Resort

Baker’s Cay Resort is located at 97000 Overseas Hwy, Key Largo, Florida 33037. Rooms start around $200 per night. Self-parking is included with the resort fee, but valet parking is $10 per day. Book your stay by visiting their website or by calling (305) 852-5553.

My stay was hosted and arranged by Baker’s Cay Resort, The Florida Keys, and Newman PR.
