Southern Stays: Inn on the Beach

Across the bay from the fast pace of Tampa is the beaches of St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida. Here you’ll find a few historic hotels, condos, and smaller inns. Inn on the Beach is the latter, across the street from quiet Pass-A-Grille Beach. The area is more laid-back than other parts of the beach but still has a few restaurants and shops.

Rooms at the Inn on the Beach

The Inn on the Beach is made up of 12 separate rooms with their own full kitchens, living rooms, and dining areas. Many also have porch access that looks out across the ocean and each is named after a type of bird.

They’re all based around an open patio where breakfast is served on weekends. I had the pleasure of staying in White Ibis, the “honeymoon suite” of the inn. They also offer three self-contained cottages if you’re traveling with a larger group.

Parking is included with your stay, but if you don’t have a car, you can take the SuperShuttle from the airport. The rooms are fully furnished and include air conditioning to combat the heat, free WiFI, and cable television.

The bathroom comes equipped with a hairdryer and toiletries. The dining room comes with table settings and the kitchen has all the equipment you’ll need, including cookware, a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, oven, and stove.

Staying at the Inn on the Beach is like staying in your own apartment, as you can cook for yourself. I liked having that independence to have a light lunch at the inn before going to the beach and having dinner out in Saint Petersburg.

Families looking to save some money on dining out who also want beachfront access will enjoy the inn, as will people looking for a nice beach vacation without requiring the amenities of a full-service hotel.

Nearby amenities also include a public park less than one block away, a couple of restaurants open depending on the season, a laundromat, and marina access. The bus also drops off nearby.

Tips for Staying at the Inn on the Beach

Inn on the Beach is located at 1401 Gulf Way, St Pete Beach, Florida 33706. Rates start at $175 per night and go up for larger rooms and cottages. Book Now by visiting their website or calling (727) 360-8844.

My stay in St. Petersburg was hosted by Inn on the Beach.
