Southern Stays: Plantation on Crystal River

June 6, 2018 By Caroline Eubanks Leave a Comment

The Crystal River area is known for being a place to connect with nature, especially the sea life that lives in the waterways. And there’s one place that is known as “the” place to stay on the river: Plantation on Crystal River.

The Choice Hotels Ascend member has been a popular vacation spot for the last 50 years. Set on 232 acres, the hotel has countless activities to keep you occupied during your stay. They’re also a member of the Green Hotels Association, encouraging eco-friendly measures like limited room cleaning.

The hotel boasts standard rooms, junior suites, and villas at the golf course, located between multiple buildings. There aren’t elevators, so pack light, but there are also ADA accessible rooms on the first floor with patios and chairs.

Rooms include a television, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, free WiFi, bathtub, and toiletries. They also have stylish decor from a recent renovation. Views overlook the river or the rest of the property.

The grounds feature a building with laundry and vending, shuffleboard, and croquet. The lobby is home to a gift shop with souvenirs and snacks, as well as a game room and West 82 Bar and Grill.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, while the bar hosts the breakfast buffet, Sunday brunch, and meals throughout the week. Next to the pool, there’s the tiki bar, which has a menu of cocktails, beer, and light bites. The golf course has another restaurant. The Plantation also has a spa and fitness center.

Perhaps the best part about visiting the Plantation is its tours and excursions. The Plantation Adventure Center runs daily manatee tours year-round to the nearby springs.

Be sure to book well in advance during the winter when over 400 West Indian manatees flock to the river. There are also boat charters, scuba dives, fishing excursions, paddleboarding, and kayaking. Bring your own boat to dock at their marina.

Tips for Staying at Plantation on Crystal River

Plantation on Crystal River is located at 9301 W Fort Island Trail, Crystal River, Florida 34429. Rates start at $114 per night, and parking is included with your stay. Book your stay by visiting their website or calling 800-632-6262.

My stay was hosted by the Plantation on Crystal River.
