Southern Stays: Sweet Peas Hostel Asheville

Sweet Peas Hostel

Asheville, North Carolina is known for its bohemian nature, but for those of us who find ourselves somewhere between camping and luxury must settle for budget accommodations. Luckily, Sweet Peas Hostel filled this void with their downtown location.

Asheville’s Best Hostel

Sweet Peas Hostel is easily one of the cleanest hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Linens and towels are placed on your ready-made bed upon arrival. Staff is available 24 hours a day to answer any questions. Coin laundry is available for guest use, as is the kitchen and computers.

Free WiFi is an added perk. A comfy common room has windows overlooking downtown Asheville, plush leather couches and chairs, satellite television, and an extensive DVD, book and game library. They also have a notice board to alert you of events happening around town.

Accommodation Options at Sweet Peas Hostel

There are two bunk areas with a total of 16 beds, each with a reading light, locker with locks and plug. Dorm rooms cost $28. Pods are the next price up, with added privacy like a curtain and built-in shelf and cost $35 per night. Two private rooms are for hire at $68 each, double or single occupancy. Bathrooms are shared.

Guests enter from a back entrance through keycard entry and a night watchman starts after 10 pm for additional security. Some rules should be noted before booking as you will sign an agreement upon arrival.

Dorm beds and showers are single occupancy, there is no drinking in the hostel, and there is to be no food in dorm rooms. The live music and noise from below can get quite noisy, so the hostel provides earplugs. There are also no full walls between rooms which can be a problem if guests are up early or late.

It’s a great place to stay if it’s your first time visiting Asheville and you want to stay in the middle of everything. You can park your car once and not have to get out unless you go hiking or to Biltmore Estate. It’s steps away from the city’s best restaurants.

If You Go

Sweet Peas Hostel is located at 23 Rankin Avenue, Asheville, North Carolina, 28801. Check in is from 3 pm to 10 pm. Check out is at 11:30 am.

Parking is not included but there is free on-street parking on some days as well as a nearby deck for $8 per day. Call (828) 285-8488 to make a booking.
