Southern Stays: The Quisby

August 22, 2018 By Caroline Eubanks Leave a Comment

The Quisby

New Orleans, Louisiana, is one of a handful of true budget-friendly destinations in the region. This is especially the case with hostels, of which there are many in the city, popular with the backpacking crowd.

But The Quisby isn’t your average hostel. While many ascribe to the style of worn couches with flags from the world covering the walls, this one is highly modern, set in the stunning Garden District within walking distance of the streetcar line and many museums.

Rooms at The Quisby

The Quisby

Dorms hold four to six beds, complete with cozy linens and reading lights as well as plugs and under the bed storage. They’re either co-ed or all female rooms. The Quisby also offers a double room with one set of bunk beds. All have ensuite bathrooms with separate showers.

The Quisby

The layout is similar to one of the city’s iconic shotgun homes, long rather than wide, with guests entering through the downstairs bar, which is open 24 hours. Guests have access to free breakfast and wifi as well as bike parking. There are also weekly events, including a pub crawl and live music.

Tips for Staying at The Quisby

The Quisby is located at 1225 St Charles Ave, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130. Rates start at $32 for bunks with student or military IDs, $40 for all others, and $160 for private rooms, except for during big events.

They don’t have their own parking, but there is some free street parking and paid lots three blocks away. It’s a short walk from the Amtrak and bus depot. Book your stay by visiting their website or calling (504) 208-4881.
