Classic Eats: Swan Coach House

September 4, 2013 By Caroline Eubanks Leave a Comment

In 1965, the Swan Coach House opened next to the Swan House, an Atlanta mansion, serving up classic Southern dishes to benefit the local arts scene. The women who started the restaurant used their family dishware and recipes and it has since become a local institution for bridal showers and ladies who lunch. The Swan House is now owned by the Atlanta History Center, so the … [Read more...] about Classic Eats: Swan Coach House

Small Town Saturday: Ellijay, GA

Known as the "Apple Capital of Georgia," Ellijay is obviously full of apple orchards like this one, Hillcrest Orchards. You can pick and fill buckets of the fruit to bring home or purchase all manners of apple products, from apple butter to apple pie. It's almost two hours from Atlanta, right on the border of the Chattahoochee National Forest. … [Read more...] about Small Town Saturday: Ellijay, GA

No restaurant signifies "Atlanta" more to me than the bright red V visible from the highway as you approach downtown. The Varsity opened in 1928 and is known as the "world's largest drive in," where you can still get carhop service. … [Read more...] about Classic Eats: The Varsity

Film Friday: Cape Fear

July 26, 2013 By Caroline Eubanks Leave a Comment

Cape Fear tells of a convicted rapist who is released from prison after his 14 year-long sentence. He tracks down the family of the lawyer who defended him, or failed to do so in his eyes, to seek revenge. Directed by Martin Scorsese, this … [Read more...] about Film Friday: Cape Fear
