Edisto Island is a barrier island off the coast of Charleston. It is less developed than other beach towns, particularly Isle of Palms and Kiawah Island. Pawleys Island, South Carolina is a small community of around 200 residents between Myrtle Beach and Charleston. Waccamaw and Winyah Indians once populated the area and George Washington toured the area two years after he was elected president.
