Dave’s Carry Out is a Radcliffeborough dive that has fed generations of Charlestonians and college students. The unassuming blue building serves up some of the best seafood downtown, but most people never walk past it. You can choose from soul food favorites like turkey wings and hoppin’ john or sandwiches and seafood platters.
The interior doesn’t look like much, as there are only a few tables and the kitchen. You’ll be best off to take your food to go, walking to Marion Square for a picnic. Ask what the specialties of the day are, as you never know what you’ll find. It could be flounder, scallops or deviled crab.

Dave’s Carry-Out is located at 42 Morris Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29403. From King and Calhoun streets, head north down King Street until you reach Morris Street. Take a left on Morris Street and the restaurant will be on your right at Coming Street.
Street parking is available. Hours vary by the day, so be patient. They’re typically open around 12-3 for lunch and 5-9 for dinner. You can call ahead at (843) 577-7943 to confirm.
