What began as a simple local grocery store outside of Oxford, Mississippi now claims to be the “South’s best catfish.” Decide for yourself after making the 20-minute drive. You’ll know you’re there when you see the sign that says “Eat or we both starve.”
Enter through the porch door and you’ll see the walls covered in Sharpie graffiti of diners over the years. Simple red and white checkered tablecloths are the signature decor item, as are old items that were sold many years ago that still have a dusty spot on the shelves.

On Friday nights there’s usually a wait for a table, so bring your own bottle of whatever you’re in the mood for to keep you busy. The restaurant is located in a dry county, but that doesn’t mean you can’t bring it from another county. And no, they don’t take reservations. Kick back and listen to the live music until you grab a table.
Start with the sausage and cheese plate, a Delta area tradition. Then order the signature item, their Heartland raised catfish. The all-you-can-eat is not for amateurs, but instead you can order the whole fried catfish plate, which comes with 2 sides. There are options for those that don’t eat catfish including steak and chicken.
