Double Jeopardy Filming Locations in New Orleans
Hotel Maison de Ville

Hotel Maison De Ville was built by Jean-Baptiste Lilie Sarpy in 1800 and was a hotel with a garden courtyard. There are also former slave quarters, built in the 1750s, that are among the city’s oldest buildings.
The hotel was a frequent hangout of playwright Tennessee Williams who later had a room there named in his honor. The former slave quarters and carriage house were also turned into guest rooms.
In Double Jeopardy, the hotel was used for exterior scenes. Now operating as Sonder Maison De Ville, a luxury rental property, the hotel has been renovated with modern conveniences.
Hotel Monteleone Carousel Bar

Double Jeopardy also filmed in the lobby and in front of Hotel Monteleone, one of the city’s most notable hotels. The Carousel Bar, pictured, was transformed into the Armani shop where Libby picks up a dress.
Hotel Monteleone was 1886 by a Sicilian immigrant and it remains in the same family today. It has 570 guest rooms, including 50 suites, a pool, a spa, and multiple restaurants. But its most notable feature is the Carousel Bar, which has 25 highly-coveted seats and rotates completely every 15 minutes.
The hotel also has ties to the literary community, playing host to such writers as Ernest Hemingway, Tennessee Williams, William Faulkner, Anne Rice, Stephen Ambrose, and John Grisham among many others.
Lafayette Cemetery No. 1

New Orleans is full of historic (and above-ground) cemeteries that are the final resting place of the city’s notorious characters. Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is one such, located in the Garden District.
Built in 1833, Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is still in use today with over 7,000 graves. It was the city’s first planned cemetery and has wide aisles for processions. It was damaged during Hurricane Katrina and closed for repairs in 2019.
In Double Jeopardy, Libby meets with Nick and thinks she’s getting custody of Matty. But Nick locks her in a crypt. Other movies filmed in the cemetery include Interview with a Vampire and Deja Vu.

Hermman-Grima House

In Double Jeopardy, Libby makes an appearance at the charity gala hosted by her estranged husband, who is now living as an art collector and hotel owner in New Orleans.
The event is held at the Hermann-Grima House. Built in 1831, the Federal-style mansion was built for a German family. It’s one of the only homes still with its horse stable and open-hearth kitchen.
It was a private residence continuously until 1924 when it was purchased by The Woman’s Exchange. The home then became a boarding house for women until 1975 when it was turned into a house museum.
Other Double Jeopardy Filming Locations
John C. Stennis Space Center

Located inland from the Gulf Coast near the Mississippi-Louisiana state line, the Stennis Space Center is NASA’s largest rocket testing facility, created in 1961.
Like other space landmarks around the country, Stennis is home to the INFINITY Science Center, a visitor’s center and museum. Exhibits discuss the work that takes place there and tours of the facility are also offered.
In Double Jeopardy, the bodies of water around the space center were used for the scene where Libby escapes from the underwater car after it plunges off of the ferry.
