No film may capture classic horror more than The Exorcist, which tells of a young girl who has been possessed by the devil. Her worried mother seeks the help of two priests in Washington DC to save her daughter.
The film transformed the genre and made stars of Linda Blair and Ellen Burstyn. It was the first horror movie nominated for an Academy Award and had a number of mysterious cast and crew deaths. Scenes were filmed throughout Washington DC’s Georgetown neighborhood, specifically at the “Hitchcock Steps,” Holy Trinity Church and the campus of Georgetown University.
