A New York reporter comes to Savannah, Georgia and befriends a suave millionaire who soon becomes the subject of headlines as he is put on trial for murder. As someone who just recently read the original John Berendt book, I can say that the two are very different, as the film focuses more on the crime and trial storyline. Clint Eastwood directed the film, which stars Kevin Spacey and John Cusack. Many people who had roles in the book in addition to well-known Savannahians played roles in the film.
