Farmer Benjamin Martin, played by Mel Gibson, joins the American Revolution after the murder of his son. The story of The Patriot mixes the birth of America as a nation with one man’s revenge against the British soldier who burned down his plantation and hurt his family.
It made a star out of the late Heath Ledger. Botany Bay Plantation on Edisto Island was one of the main filming locations, along with the College of Charleston campus, Cypress Gardens, and Middleton Place Plantation.

I am desperate to find the filming locations and if they are accessible to the public of the film The Patriot. My son and his father have seen the movie a hundred times I think. We live in Charlotte and would love to know the specific location of the Kings Skirmish and the location of the ambush of the British soldiers by Benjamin Martin and his little boys. Is there a published list of specific locations?
