A First Timer’s Guide to Six Flags Fright Fest

Fright Fest

Six Flags Over Georgia is one of the area’s best theme parks, located outside Atlanta, Georgia. While the summertime is a busy time of year. The park opens at night for the entire month of October for Fright Fest, an annual event at their parks nationwide.

It’s the only time of year you can ride the rides in the dark! Costumes are discouraged, as you can leave it up to the professionals. Families should keep in mind that some of the characters will scare younger visitors. So bring your friends and visit if you dare!

What to Do at Fright Fest

Upon entering the park, you’re meet with spooky characters and fog. The park is set up in a large loop and each area has its own haunted attractions. Some attractions require an extra fee beyond the entry price, including the haunted houses.

But you can still experience the scares of character zones without the fee. This year’s hauntings include Mummy’s Curse, the Witching Hour, Bayou Bloodlust, and many more. Carnevil is a freak show style cabaret located in Gotham.

All of the roller coasters are open during Fright Fest, which is a truly unique experience in the dark. The Rage of the Gargoyles virtual reality coaster is the biggest hit of the season, combining a steep incline short track coaster with virtual reality headsets.

I experienced very long wait times for this particular ride and didn’t end up being able to ride it after almost two hours. So you may want to make a beeline for these rides as soon as you enter the park.

When it comes to food, I recommend eating before you go into the park because options are limited. There is, however, a place to purchase cocktails once inside, which most parks don’t have. I ended up having a burger at the diner near Gotham, which wasn’t worth waiting in line for.

Tips for Attending Six Flags Fright Fest

Six Flags Over Georgia is located at 275 Riverside Parkway Southwest, Austell, Georgia 30168, a short drive from Atlanta.

Admission just for Fright Fest is $45.99, but you can get a discount by bringing a Coca-Cola can. Admission with the haunted houses is $65.99, but a season pass for the next year is only $53.99.

Thanks to Six Flags Over Georgia for hosting me at Fright Fest.
