Six Flags Over Georgia is one of the area’s best theme parks, located outside Atlanta in Austell. It was the company’s second location, which opened in 1967.
The park is open from March to October with special events in the fall and winter. It’s 20 minutes from downtown Atlanta, accessible by car via I-20 or CobbLinc Bus 30, which drops off in front of the park.
Six Flags Over Georgia now spans nearly 300 acres, including Hurricane Bay water park. They also have a sister water park, White Water, around 30 minutes away in Marietta.
Through a partnership with Warner Brothers, many rides feature characters from the classic cartoons. There is also an area dedicated to Batman and DC Comics characters.
One-day ticket prices are $70 at the park but cheaper if you purchase online in advance. There are also add ons to jump the line. If you visit more than once, a season pass is a better deal since it includes parking, usually $25-40 extra.

Ride smaller rides like Up, Up & Away and Rockin’ Tug or pile the whole family into the Hanson Cars, old school vehicles, for a loop around the track.

DC Super Friends
This kids area is similar to Gotham City and has exciting rides like the Joker Funhouse Coaster, Wonder Woman Flight School, and Superman Tower of Power.

ScreamPunk District
In the newly reimagined area next to Lickskillet you’ll find Thunder River, an exciting raft ride, and Pandemonium, a ride that spins and soars.
USA
Since the park opens by zone, be sure to line up at these rides first. They tend to have the longest wait times. Here you can experience the thrills of Dare Devil Dive and Goliath, a hypercoaster.
When you get hungry, Dee Jay’s Diner takes its inspiration from the 1950s with burgers, hot dogs, and fries.
Roller Coasters and Thrill Rides at Six Flags

What Six Flags Over Georgia has over many parks is the abundance of roller coasters and thrill rides. Goliath and Mind Bender are often cited as the best rides in the park by coaster enthusiasts.
Batman: The Ride is one of the inverted steel coasters, featuring music from the 1990s films. The Ninja was refurbished as Blue Hawk and features the biggest twists and loops of any ride in the park.
The Dare Devil Dive opened to much excitement for its virtual reality capability and 95-foot vertical rise. The Great American Scream Machine is a longtime favorite, originally the world’s fastest and tallest coaster.
The Georgia Scorcher is unique in that it has riders standing up while Superman puts visitors on their stomachs, flying above the park. Twisted Cyclone is a steel hybrid coaster.
Kid-Friendly Six Flags

If you’re not tall enough to ride the big coasters, at least 42 inches, there’s plenty for younger visitors! Bugs Bunny Boomtown is the best place to be for little kids as there are rides parents can ride with them.
Carousel Hill and DC Super Friends also have smaller rides. Don’t miss the Six Flags Railroad, which all ages are sure to enjoy.
Older kids can ride the Dahlonega Mine Train, a roller coaster that doesn’t go upside down. The Joker Funhouse Coaster is another coaster for kids.
