Located between Columbia and Charleston, South Carolina is the small town of Bowman. The town of less than 1,000 residents was once a thriving rice-producing community. Today it has a few shops, but is known for the UFO Welcome Center, a manmade tourist attraction in a resident’s backyard. Jody Pendarvis built the “alien rest stop” in 1994 and began charging admission for curious locals and visitors.
