
Hernando, named for explorer Hernando De Soto who discovered the Mississippi River, is a town of 14,000 in Mississippi. The town includes a number of shops and restaurants, set around the square, where the De Soto County Courthouse is located.
Writer John Grisham worked here as a young lawyer and it was his experiences here that inspired him to write A Time to Kill. Another notable resident is musician Jerry Lee Lewis.
