Kennesaw, Georgia is a suburb of Atlanta with less than 30,000 residents. The area was once mostly rural and was the site of the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain during the Civil War.
Visitors can see the battlefield, now protected by the National Park Service, which has a visitor’s center with information on the war as well as canons throughout the park. Climb Kennesaw Mountain for a distant view of downtown Atlanta. Also visit downtown Kennesaw to see the historic locomotives.
