Valle Crucis, NC is home to the original Mast General Store, pictured above. Built in 1882 by Henry Taylor, the store was bought by the Mast Family, who owned it until the 1970s. The company has expanded to seven other locations throughout the neighboring states. In the founding days of the store, it sold everything from plows to caskets to the neighboring pioneers but now sells outdoor gear, clothing and candy.
