Visitors to Charleston are spoiled for choice when it comes to places to stay, especially downtown. But it’s next to impossible to find a hotel room for less than $200 per night downtown. On a recent trip, I found a deal for a room at Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina in Mount Pleasant for less than $100.
It’s located at the foot of the iconic Arthur Ravenel bridge, literally as close as can be to the peninsula without the high prices. The resort is on the water with marina access and within view of the famous USS Yorktown.

Rooms at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina
My room was a handicapped queen room, so it was larger than average, but it had a unique Southern beach decor, complete with a faux fireplace, television, and balcony. They also offer suites and family rooms.
The view would usually be of the space between the buildings, but during my stay, it was where construction was taking place. The room was large enough for two people, with large closets. I was also impressed with the Gilchrist & Soames toiletries in the bathroom.
Activities at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina
The Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina has four bars and restaurants, including Indigo Grille, Reel Bar, Bridge Bar, and Charleston Harbor Fish House. The pool is great for the whole family and other activities include fishing charters, bike rentals, and a fitness center. Guests can also book a golf excursion for the day. These amenities also apply to those docking their boats in the marina.
The resort has plentiful onsite parking and there is a shuttle that runs every hour downtown and throughout the area. WiFi is also included in your resort fee.
