Southern Stays: Hotel Bardo

June 30, 2026 By Caroline Eubanks Leave a Comment

Hotel Bardo

Hotel Bardo occupies one of Savannah, Georgia‘s most recognizable historic properties overlooking Forsyth Park. The centerpiece of the hotel is the 1888 Forsyth Mansion, a Victorian Romanesque residence that has served several purposes over the past century, including as a funeral home for decades before the property was redeveloped into the Mansion on Forsyth Park hotel in 2005.

In 2022, hospitality company Left Lane acquired the landmark and embarked on a multimillion-dollar renovation that carefully preserved its historic architecture while expanding the property with new guest rooms, gardens, restaurants, and wellness facilities. Reopened in February 2024 as Hotel Bardo, the 149-room urban resort blends the mansion’s Gilded Age heritage with contemporary design, establishing itself as a new flagship luxury hotel and social club while honoring one of Savannah’s most storied buildings.

Guest Rooms at Hotel Bardo

Guest room

Hotel Bardo offers 149 guest rooms and suites, all designed with a warm residential feel and a neutral palette accented by custom artwork. Every accommodation includes luxury touches such as Frette linens and bathrobes, Corpus bath amenities, a Nespresso coffee maker, complimentary Wi-Fi, a mini-fridge, snack drawer, Dyson hair dryer, filtered water, in-room dining, and a spacious work area.

Guest room categories include Standard King and Standard Double Queen rooms, each measuring approximately 460 square feet with dedicated seating areas ideal for relaxing after a day exploring Savannah. Travelers seeking scenic views can book the Forsyth Park View King or Double Queen rooms. Junior Suites expand the living space with a sofa seating area and either a private porch or Juliet balcony overlooking Gwinnett Street, while Premium Pool View Suites feature direct access to the resort-style pool via private gardens or elevated balconies.

The hotel’s most luxurious accommodation is the 1,200-square-foot Bardo Suite, a residential-style retreat featuring a full chef’s kitchen with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, a separate living room and dining area, a king bedroom, and a dramatic 12-foot turret with a daybed overlooking Forsyth Park and Savannah’s Historic District.

Eating and Drinking at Hotel Bardo

Hotel Bardo has several dining options, open to both guests and the general public. Breakfast is a modest affair, with fruit, pastries, and coffee. Saint Bibiana is the flagship restaurant, open for breakfast, brunch, and dinner for house-made pasta, fresh crudos, and seafood. The restaurant also operates a cooking school, taking over from the former property.

For something casual, Bar Bibi is the poolside lounge for guests with light and shareable dishes best enjoyed outside. The miniature pizzas, crab salad, and vermouth cocktails are all recommended. The Green Room, which also hosts breakfast, becomes a cocktail lounge by night with weekly specials.

Amenities at Hotel Bardo

The pool is one of the biggest perks for guests of Hotel Bardo, especially during the balmy summer months, where you can relax in chairs or a cabana for rent. But you can also rent a bicycle or Moke to explore the historic district, browse the curated shop, get a massage at the Saltgrass Spa, or work out in the fitness center. The hotel also has weekly programming, including live music and mahjong.

Tips for Staying at Hotel Bardo

Hotel Bardo is located at 700 Drayton Street, Savannah, Georgia 31401. Rates vary depending on room type and season, but begin around $350 per night. Valet parking is $60 per night, but street parking is also found nearby.

A $49 nightly resort amenity fee includes the daily coffee and pastries, access to Club Bardo’s pool and fitness center, fitness classes, access to the house car for trips around the city, and gear to borrow like pickleball racquets and board games. Guests also get discounted admission to the SCAD Museum of Art. Book your stay by calling (912) 238-5158 or by visiting the website.
