Southern Stays: Post House Inn

August 17, 2022 By Caroline Eubanks Leave a Comment

Post House Inn
Post House Inn

Set in the former 1896 post office in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant, this charming inn in the suburb of Charleston, South Carolina is a welcome respite from the noise of downtown. Guests check in at the reception desk, which is for both the restaurant and inn.

It feels like actually living in the neighborhood in a way that standard hotels do not. In fact, you never know what you might see here! The village is where The Notebook and Outer Banks were filmed. Guests can use the rental bikes to explore.

There are seven rooms at the inn, each uniquely designed. All are located upstairs, so the rooms are not ADA accessible. All have luxury Wright mattresses, air conditioning, flat screen televisions, and high speed WiFi.

My room, Room 2, is like a sunroom, set with big windows over looking the Old Village. It also had a daybed and a minibar type setup with snacks and locally made goods. The design features print-filled wallpaper and vintage lighting.

You can’t talk about the Post House Inn without takling about the restaurant as the two are deeply intertwined. The inn offers daily breakfast, which is a European-style spread of croissants, meat and cheese, fruit, eggs, and coffee.

Even if you don’t stay at the inn, the Post House Inn restaurant has rightfully earned much acclaim. Created by the team behind Basic Kitchen, the menu includes popular dishes like the burger, steak frites, fish curry, and egg sandwich. There’s also a bar with tequila-heavy craft cocktails, local beer, and wine.
