Southern Stays: The Westin Poinsett Greenville

May 28, 2018 By Caroline Eubanks Leave a Comment

Westin Poinsett Greenville

Far more than your average Westin hotel, the Poinsett Greenville is a historic landmark building built in 1925. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Named for Joel R. Poinsett, a citizen of South Carolina who served in the government, including as the minister to Mexico. It was built to hold the attendees of a textile convention, and it cost $1.5 million to build. It fell on hard times in the 1950s but was revitalized in the 1990s.

Westin Poinsett Greenville

Today, it’s the top hotel in Greenville, South Carolina. It retains some of the period features but has additional amenities like free WiFi, plush bathrobes, and Heavenly beds.

Both traditional rooms and suites are available. There’s even a fitness studio, restaurant and bar, and coffee shop on the property. The AAA-Four Diamond property also has plenty of event space.

It’s also steps away from downtown Greenville’s top shops and restaurants, making it the perfect base for your adventures in the city.
