Ray is the true story of Ray Charles, who overcame blindness, racism and drug abuse to become one of the most famous soul musicians of all time. Born to a sharecropper in Albany, Georgia, Ray was told at a young age that he would lose his sight. He was taught the piano by sound and was eventually signed by Atlantic Records. The film stars Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Regina King and Terrence Howard.
Specific scenes were filmed at the City Airport, Civic Theatre, F&M Piano Bar, the Fairmont Hotel, Orpheum Theatre, and Saenger Theatre in New Orleans.
