Small Town Saturday: Tiger, GA

November 16, 2013 By Caroline Eubanks Leave a Comment

It's entirely possible for someone to pass through Tiger, GA without even realizing it. The town is one of those places that you blink and will miss it. There are around 400 residents of this Blue Ridge Mountains town, which is close to bigger towns like Helen and Clayton. The town's claim to fame is an offbeat attraction called Goats on the Roof. At this store and fudge … [Read more...] about Small Town Saturday: Tiger, GA

Located near Cashiers in the mountains of North Carolina, the town of Highlands has less than 1,000 full-time residents. The surrounding state and national parks are popular with visitors, especially the winding drives ideal for motorcycle enthusiasts. This particular photo was taken from Dry Falls, also known as Upper Cullasaja Falls, located in the Nantahala National … [Read more...] about Small Town Saturday: Highlands, NC

It's known as the official home of Gone with the Wind, serving as Margaret Mitchell's real-life inspiration for Tara. The last battle of the Atlanta Campaign in the Civil War was fought here, largely in the front yards of homes and plantations. … [Read more...] about Small Town Saturday: Jonesboro, GA

Small Town Saturday: Cashiers, NC

Cashiers, North Carolina is an unincorporated village in the Blue Ridge and Appalachian mountains. The population is less than 200, but it is popular with visitors, who rent cabins in the fall months to see the leaves change color. It may be less populous than nearby Highlands, but rivals it in charm and scenery. Photo courtesy of Amy Eubanks. … [Read more...] about Small Town Saturday: Cashiers, NC

October 12, 2013 By Caroline Eubanks Leave a Comment

Pawleys Island, South Carolina is a small community of around 200 residents between Myrtle Beach and Charleston. Waccamaw and Winyah Indians once populated the area and George Washington toured the area two years after he was elected president. Few structures survived Hurricane Hugo in 1989, but the Pawleys Island Chapel, pictured above, is one such building. Originally a … [Read more...] about Small Town Saturday: Pawleys Island, SC
