The town of Butler, Georgia was established in 1854 and named after a distinguished soldier from the Mexican-American War. It's the county seat of Taylor County and the Taylor County Courthouse, pictured above, was built in 1935. It's now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Barnesville, Georgia was founded in 1826 and was the site of a major Civil War hospital. It was a major hub for the buggy-making industry. The town has a population of less than 7,000 people. Small Town Saturday: Newnan, GA

Newnan, Georgia was established in 1828 as the county seat of Coweta County. It was the site of a Confederate hospital during the Civil War and still contains many antebellum structures. Located south of Savannah, Darien is a small town in coastal Georgia first settled in 1736 by Scottish Highlanders. A British fort was located nearby and the area was affected by Spanish and Indian attacks. Much of the town was burned during the Civil War. Summerville, Georgia in the northwestern part of the state is made up of less than 5,000 residents. Founded in 1838 as the Chattooga County seat, it was named because it was a popular summer resort town.
