Prior to my visit to the Mississippi Delta, the only time I’d ever stayed in a casino was in Las Vegas . But Tunica, Mississippi is one of the best places for gambling in the south, so my trip included a stop here.
The nicest hotel and casino in the area is Gold Strike Resort and Casino, an MGM property. There are three properties in the same parking lot in the Robinsonville area, including GoldStrike. Each one offers something different, but this one is the most luxurious.
Rooms at Gold Strike Resort and Casino

Each room has the best of modern amenities in king, double and suites. They include televisions, free wireless Internet, coffee and tea, and luxurious toiletries. The beds gave me the best nights’ sleep of the entire trip. The blackout curtains also keep out the bright lights of the neighboring casinos. Parking is included in the resort fee of your stay.
Restaurants and Amenities at Gold Strike

Gold Strike has its own pool, spa, gym, and access to local golf courses. The most popular reason people stay here, however, is the casinos. They have smoking and non-smoking floors, depending on your preferences. You have both slots and table games to choose from. The casino is also a popular music venue, regularly hosting top-name acts at the Millennium Theatre.

GoldStrike also has a number of onsite restaurants, which is important since the closest restaurants are 15 minutes away. The food court has three restaurants for quick dining, including a deli open, burgers, and pizza.
The Atrium Cafe has American dining options all day and the Buffet Americana offers all types of cuisine even into late night. Chicago Steakhouse is GoldStrike’s fine dining restaurant, complete with an extensive wine list. For drinks, check out Stage2 and Ten10 Wine & Whiskey Bar.

My stay at the GoldStrike Resort and Casino was hosted by the hotel and the Mississippi Delta Tourism Association.
My husband and I stayed at rm 2838 from Friday to Sunday. The first night he ordered a filet mignon from room service and it was NOT a filet. It was a ribeye-and I mean, clearly a ribeye- not a filet. Otherwise, ALL staff was very helpful in accomadating us with my husband’s back issues. The dates were 12-11 thru 12-13 when we checked out. The staff was terrific, except 4 the ribeye instead of filet. I would appreciate my husband’s comp be put bak on his card-the difference of a filet and a ribeye- clearly that can be done!
