28 Unique Places to Stay in the Mississippi Delta

After writing guides for countless publications about the Mississippi Delta, it became time for our own guide to accommodations.

While the region doesn’t have an abundance of big-name hotels, there are unique rentals, independent hotels, and inns that put you in the heart of the music scene. The majority are located in Clarksdale.

We occasionally accept complimentary accommodations in exchange for a review to offset costs but write honestly about our experiences.

Mississippi Delta Hotels and Casinos

The Alluvian is a boutique hotel created by the Viking kitchen range team in Greenwood. The property has its own spa, yoga studio, and Giardina’s, an Italian restaurant dating back to 1936. 

There are 45 rooms and suites with plush linens and local artwork. Guests can enjoy breakfast on the rooftop patio or walk across the street to one of Viking’s cooking classes.

Ameristar Casino and Resort, Vicksburg

Ameristar Casino and Resort is a riverboat casino in Vicksburg that provides AAA diamond level service. Guests can choose from king and queen rooms as well as suites.

Most guests come to Ameristar for the gaming but there’s plenty to see nearby as well. The casino also has three restaurants, a VIP lounge, and a live music venue.

Cotton House Hotel, Cleveland

The Cotton House Hotel (review here) is named for Cotton Row, where farmers come to sell their crops in downtown Cleveland. The Marriott-affiliated property with 95 pet-friendly guestrooms is inspired by Mississippi blues artists.

Guests can enjoy in-room record players with tunes from blues artists, two restaurants from a James Beard-nominated chef, and an in-house yoga studio and fitness center.

GoldStrike Resort and Casino (review here) is the MGM-owned casino that is the most luxurious in Tunica. Each room has the best of modern amenities in king, double and suites.

They include televisions, free wireless Internet, coffee and tea, and luxurious toiletries. GoldStrike also has a pool, spa, gym, and access to local golf courses along with multiple restaurants and a performance venue.

Harlow’s Casino Resort & Spa, Greenville

Harlow’s Casino Resort & Spa is one of the only casinos south of Tunica. The hotel has deluxe rooms and suites and a variety of games, including slots and poker.

The hotel also has three restaurants, a coffee shop, and a bar. Located outside of Greenville, the casino sits right next to the state line with Arkansas on the Mississippi River.

Lyric Hotel West End, Cleveland

Located down the street from the Grammy Museum, the appropriately named Lyric Hotel West End is part of the Ascend Hotel Collection.

The hotel rooms come equipped with coffee makers, flat-screen televisions, and luxury toiletries. Some also have full kitchens and balconies. There’s also a pool, fitness center, and a restaurant.

Travelers Hotel is set in a historic building in Clarksdale with stylish rooms, functioning as both a hotel and community space. There’s also a location in New Orleans.

Rooms are minimalist but have plenty of space to work. Amenities include Malin + Goetz toiletries, a lobby bar with regional beer, and daily coffee.

The Main Street Hotel is the only local hotel in Yazoo City, spread across the upper levels of four of the downtown storefronts painted in colorful shades.

The hotel has themed rooms and balcony access. Rooms also have mini-fridges, microwaves, televisions, and antique furnishings. Some also have claw foot tubs.

The Riverside Hotel, Clarksdale

Music fans can sleep in the 1944 motel where legends like Muddy Waters, Sam Cooke, and Bessie Smith stayed while touring. The building was originally Clarksdale’s Black hospital.

The Riverside Hotel has basic rooms that are like a time capsule for their heyday. Rooms are named after the people that left their mark on the region.

Mississippi Delta Hostels, Inns, and B&Bs

Auberge Hostel is the first hostel in Mississippi, with a second location in New Orleans. It’s close to the Greyhound station and the area’s best music venues.

Guest rooms include mixed-gender dorm rooms and private rooms. There’s also a communal lounge with a television, foosball table, and a bar and kitchen.

Clark House Inn, Clarksdale

Clark House Inn is one of Clarksdale’s only bed-and-breakfasts. The 1859 historic home once belonged to John Clark, founder of the city, and is among the oldest around.

The eight guest rooms are named for Tennessee Williams characters and elements of the Delta, spread between the main house and carriage house.

Corners Mansion Inn is a Vicksburg bed and breakfast with rooms and suites furnished in antiques. They have whirlpool tubs, WiFi, fireplaces, and views of the Mississippi River.

One room boasts incredible stained glass while another is in the library, surrounded by shelves full of books. There’s also free parking for guests.

Duff Green Mansion is an 1856 home in Vicksburg that once played host to Civil War soldiers. It’s even rumored to be haunted. The main house has cozy rooms set around a courtyard with a pool.

Guests enjoy private bathrooms, antique furnishings, and Southern-style breakfasts in the dining room. It’s also a short walk from Vicksburg’s attractions.

Mississippi Delta Airbnbs and Rentals

Blues Hound Flat, Clarksdale

The Blues Hound Flat is one of many music-themed rentals in Clarksdale. It’s steps away from the juke joints and has a king bed and pull-out couch. There’s also WiFi, a flatscreen television, and a kitchenette.

Chateau Debris, Clarksdale

Chateau Debris is another eclectic Clarksdale rental with three themed rooms with queen beds, an onsite art gallery, and a cozy front porch. Guests can rent one room or the whole house. There’s also a full kitchen, laundry facilities, and a living room.

Named for blues legend John Lee Hooker, The Hooker Hotel is a spacious rental in downtown Clarksdale. It has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, and a living area. It’s also covered in artwork.

The Lofts at 517 are set above downtown Greenville’s shops in a former Sears building. Guests enter the building via the elevator or stairs.

The large suites have multiple bedrooms, full kitchens, and living rooms with televisions and WiFi. The bathrooms have luxury toiletries.

As the name implies, The Lofts at the Five & Dime are set above a former five and dime store, now a popular cafe and restaurant in Clarksdale. The apartment-style accommodations have large rooms, full kitchens, televisions, and living areas.

Sears Quarter Condo, Vicksburg

Sears Quarter Condo is ideal for longer stays in Vicksburg with full kitchens and living rooms. Set in a 1930 Art Deco building, it was originally an office for the mail-order company.

Shack Up Inn, Clarksdale

Shack Up Inn is perhaps the most beloved, made up of restored sharecropper flats. It has its own restaurant and music venue as well as rooms made from grain silos.

The Squeeze Box, Clarksdale

The Squeeze Box is next door to The Hooker Hotel in Clarksdale, smaller in size but big on charm. The suite has artwork related to musicians and the bed has the throwback “Magic Fingers.” The fridge also comes stocked with local beer.

Sunflower Lofts, Clarksdale

Sunflower Lofts are residential-style apartments for rent in Clarksdale. There are four to choose from, each with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchens, and living rooms.

Tallahatchie Flats, Greenwood

Tallahatchie Flats are sharecropper shacks in Greenwood steeped in blues history. One was taken from the plantation where Robert Johnson died. Each of the flats is decorated differently with rustic quilts and artwork.

Mississippi Delta Camping

Ameristar RV Park, Vicksburg

The Ameristar RV Park has 67 drive-through spaces recommended by Good Sam. The park is a shuttle ride away from the casino and main hotel.

Amenities include free daily coffee, coin laundry, cable television, a bathhouse, a swimming pool, a dog park, WiFi, and nearby car rental services.

Delta National Forest, Rolling Fork

If you’re traveling with a tent, check out the campsites in Delta National Forest, one of the least expensive options in the area, complete with picnic tables and vault toilets. The park is nearly 60,000 acres but close to many towns.

Hollywood Casino RV Park, Tunica

Hollywood Casino in Tunica also has an RV park with 123 sites. The park overlooks the golf course and guests have access to the amenities of the hotel.

Warfield Point Park, Greenville

Camping is also available at Warfield Point Park, a riverfront park in Greenville with both tent and RV sites. They have water, sewer, and electricity hookup, firepits, and showers. The park also has ATV trails and disc golf courses.
